It all started when…
Mr. Yaw Agyapong cleared his bank account and bought a Nikon DSLR camera for $400. In the summer of 2013 Yaw was in search of a hobby for the summer. Already being an avid moviegoer he gave filmkmaking a swing and fell in love. He started out taking pictures around the town of Bay Shore, NY and he slowly transitioned to filming.
Yaw has founded Agyapongfilms in 2013 and has been a devout independent film director ever since. Yaw is a man that values relentless hard work, dedication, and responsibility. His work ethic alone has been unmatched. Yaw understands that every minute of devotion to the art of filmmaking counts, as can be seen by his passionate drive.
Director, Yaw Agyapong, was born in the Bronx, New York on January 1st 1990. At a young age, Yaw promised himself that he would become a self-made movie director and climb the ladder within the industry, and has been working towards that goal ever since. He often questioned himself about being average. Why be average, when you can live life according to your dreams before the sand in your glass runs out?
As a current Nursing student with solid grades across the board, Yaw was indefatigable towards his goal and does not believe in an average nine-to-five-job. He has invested a great deal of time and effort to acquire all of his equipment to make his ideas a reality.
Yaw has done a remarkable job of educating himself on the ins and outs of the film industry and takes the liberty constantly to watch films done by some of his favorite directors, such as James Wan, Antoine Fuqua, and Guillermo del toro, to improve his craft. He has and still is active and involved in community events.
The young man has accomplished all of this at just age 28 and will stop at nothing. Today, Yaw has a myriad of short films and currently working on his feature length narrative film and documentary.
Film, as he sees it, is the gateway to producing the change the world needs.
